Available in bottles of 30, 50 or 100 ml of Chaga Mushroom Extract. Bottled in Miron violet glass. This glass only allows ultraviolet and infrared light to pass through, slowing down the degradation process of active compounds. Miron violet glass greatly increases shelf life. The bottle cap comes with a pipette for simple dosage.
The Mushroomist uses a three-way extraction method to create its Mushroom Extracts. This extraction method guarantees a potent and rich extract, in which all active compounds are preserved as well as possible.
Effects of Chaga
The chaga mushroom or Inonotus Obliquus is rightfully known as the ‘diamond of the forest’. Chaga is chock-full of active compounds such as antioxidants, polysaccharides, triterpenes and betuline acid, all with great health benefits. Chaga is seen as a strong adaptogen, meaning that Chaga can positively contribute to achieving homeostasis in your body, keeping your body balanced and well-equipped to deal with stress and illness. Chaga can boost the immune system. Chaga also lends itself to treat a large variety of ailments, from stomach ulcers and other digestive issues to muscle- and joint pains. Chaga’s antioxidants can help slowing down aging processes in the body. In addition, Chaga is sometimes used to supplement regular cancer treatments. The betuline acid in Chaga is said to halt and fight the growth of malignant tumors. This property of Chaga is currently subject of much scientific research.
Chaga is impossible to cultivate. It can only be harvested in nature. The Mushroomist harvests Chaga in the North of Scandinavia, using sustainable methods to keep the forest’s ecosystem intact. Harvest takes place in winter, when the birch trees are ‘sleeping’. In this season, Chaga is most powerful, as the concentration of active compounds is the highest.
Use of Chaga Mushroom Extract
Take half a pipette (0.5 ml) three times a day, preferably before meals. You can either empty the pipette under your tongue and swallow the extract, or dissolve the extract in a glass of water and drink it.
It generally takes about two weeks before the effects of a quality extract will be noticeable in the body, if taken regularly. Some people, however, report feeling effects kicking in after a few minutes.
One pipette of Chaga Extract by The Mushroomist equals three cups of strong Chaga tea.
This Chaga Mushroom Extract is best preserved in the fridge. The Mushroomist guarantees that the organic alcohol (20%) and Miron violet glass will help preserve the active compounds for at least three weeks after opening.
There are no known side effects or allergies for Chaga. We are not aware of any research on the effects of Chaga on pregnancy. We recommend pregnant women to refrain from using this Chaga extract.
Chaga or Inonotus Obliquus is a fungus from the Hymenochaetaceae family. Chaga is a parasitic mushroom, growing predominantly on birch trees and some other types of broadleaf trees. Chaga exclusively grows in so-called Taiga forests. These cold woods are found in the deep North of Korea, Siberia, Russia, Northern Europe and Northern America.
Chaga takes its name from the Russian word for mushroom. In northern Russia and Siberia, indigenous people have known about the medicinal properties of Chaga for many centuries. Folk medicine practices of peoples of Eastern Asia also profess to a rich tradition of Chaga’s healing powers. In the 16th century, Chaga starts to appear in several medical works from Russia and Northen Europe. In these texts, Chaga is prescribed to treat infections and ulcers, as well as tuberculosis and cancer. These traditions have survived throughout the centuries up to the present day. For instance, in his famous semi-autobiographical novel Cancer Ward (1968), Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn describes Chaga’s ancient uses for treating cancer. He writes: “He could not imagine any greater joy than to go away into the woods for months on end, to break off this chaga, crumble it, boil it up on a campfire, drink it and get well like an animal.”
In their lab in Amsterdam, the mushroom growers of The Mushroomist create extracts of rare, medicinal mushrooms. To guarantee the high quality of their extracts, The Mushroomist is in control of every aspect of the production process – cultivation, harvest, and extraction – all using 100% sustainable and environmentally friendly techniques. The Mushroomist brings ancient knowledge of the healing power of mushrooms to the 21st century!
